2014: Cheat Youth is Growing!

It is this time of the year again!  Spring is draggin its feet and Winter decided to hang on for longer than usual but Cheat Training is here again and the young "Cheaters" did not miss this important rendez-vous with the river.  Rain, shine, snow or sleet, the LAKS Youts will get out on the Potomac and start getting in shape and preparing themselves to run the Cheat in April.

This year, 14 courageous Youts have decided to take on the challenge of Cheat Training.  Our group has almost doubled in size! 

The Team

This year, we lost George Boss and Will Harris who left us to go to college in South Carolina and British Columbia, where they are slaving away and not having any fun.  :)  Actually, they seem to be having a pretty good time, with lots of kayaking and quite a bit of skiing too for Will. Of course, we do not doubt that they study a little sometimes too.  We miss Will and George but they are not forgotten.  

This season, Liam Black and Justin Shockey are taking up the "wildwater torch".  Justin is not new to wildwater but this is a new experience for Liam.  Good luck to them both!  Make those Wavehoppers fly!

We also welcome back the veterans of the LAKS Youts team: Ben Goldweber, Jacob Siegel, Kira Ratcliff and Taylor Ratcliff.  All of them look pretty strong on the water and it is a real pleasure to have them back.

It is also nice to see new faces joining the team!  Very special welcome to the new Youts who so far are showing a lot of character and perseverance.
