2012 marks the second year of LAKS Cheat training program for Youth. There might be some evidence that 2011 was not so traumatizing and was maybe even fun, since most members of the first Dream Team decided to renew the experience: Ben Goldweber and Liam Black will be training in long boats again this year, while George Boss, Thomas Esch and Will Harris, decided to take on wildwater racing. We also welcome three newcomers: Ellen Schwartz and Taylor Ratcliffe will paddle long boats, and Jack Andraka, chose to paddle a wildwater boat.
Curiously, last year, our Youth Team (The Youts, as the adult Cheat Training group call them) seemed to develop a peculiar taste for lactic acid burn, sweat, blisters and muscle soreness... How could this be?? Obviously the combination of fun whitewater, fresh air, camaraderie and the satisfactory feeling of pushing one's limits can work wonders. We would love to see the magic at work again this year. The goal is to work hard and play hard. Have a great year on the river and don't forget to always GIVE IT YOUR BEST!
